Injectable Wrinkle Relaxant
aka Neuromodulator injections
They are injectable diluted muscle relaxant for wrinkles & aging
Neuromodulators are a highly effective treatment for wrinkles. They work best especially for dynamic wrinkles, ie wrinkles that are more pronounced with facial movement or expressions. They work by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. Small, diluted amounts of is directly injected to cause controlled weakening of the muscles. This causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. It is most often used on forehead lines, crow’s feet (lines around the eye) and frown lines. They are administered via fine injections to the skin.
The procedure takes about 10 minutes. Occasionally topical anaesthesia is applied to the areas that are to be injected to lessen the pain. The injection is with a fine needle at specific points with only minor discomfort. It generally takes three to seven days to take full effect, although in some people the maximum effect is seen only at 2 weeks.
The effects will last four to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear and wrinkles need to be re-treated. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.
Excessive sweating
Apart from wrinkles, research has shown that neuromodulator treatment also help decrease excessive sweating. This condition, hyperhidrosis, results in easy & excessive sweating that exceeds the normal amount. Mild anxiety, warm weather and even just thinking about it can trigger off the excessive sweating. Injections are done on the areas that sweat a lot, e.g. palms, underarms, to control the sweating. It works by blocking the nerve signals to the sweat glands. It is a highly effective treatment and lasts about 4 to 6 months. Repeat treatments are required.
Prick Test
Skin prick testing is a simple, quick and inexpensive form of testing when an allergy is suspected.
The skin prick test introduces such a tiny amount of allergen into the skin, often on the inner forearm. These tests can be carried out on all age groups, including children. Results of the test are read within 20 to 30 minutes. Your doctor will explain & interpret the results to you. Please avoid taking anti-histamines and certain other medications for 48 hours before the test.

Hair Transplant Surgery
Modern hair transplantation is based on the principle that hair follicles moved from an area on the back of the head to a balding area on the same person, will take root and grow for the person’ lifetime.
In addition to male pattern hair loss (MPHL) and female pattern hair loss (FPHL), hair transplant surgery can help improve the appearance of areas of hair thinning ( eg eyebrows ) or scarring on hair bearing areas from prior injuries or surgery, and from a number of diseases that cause hair loss.

Follicular Unit Transplanting (FUT)
Hair grows naturally in small groups called follicular units (FU). A FU may contain 1, 2, 3 or more hair.
In this procedure, a strip of hair is removed from the back of the head (donor). The FU are then carefully separate and placed into tiny holes made with a small needle in the balding area (recipient). Modern FUT creates a natural-looking growth of hair, even after only 1 session. It is also used to correct any abnormality from older transplantation techniques.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
Individual FUs are carefully removed with a motorized handpiece directly from the scalp, rather than from a strip of donor hair. There is a limit to the number of hairs that can be harvested with in this manner, typically less than 800-1000 FUs. This is a preferred method for those who prefer to wear their hair less than 2mm in length as it does not produce a linear scar. This method can be used to fill in small areas of scarring on the scalp.
Both forms of hair restoration surgery are completed within a day. You will be provided with clear pre and post –procedural advice.
The results of your surgery is best seen after 9-18 months. Please speak to your dermatologist to confirm if you are a suitable candidate for this procedure.
Patch Test
You may be allergic to a something that you have come into contact with. A patch test is a procedure that helps you identify this substance(s).
During the test, pieces of tapes will be placed onto your back for a few days.
To help us decide which substances to use for the test, please bring along the following for testing.
- self-purchased and prescribed medications cosmetics and toiletries
- chemicals used at home and at work
- substances handled at home and at work
- any other items that you suspect may have caused your rash

Ultherapy® Skin Tightening

Treatments are recommended once a year to maintain the optimal results.

Oral Challenge
A supervised oral challenge is the most accurate means of diagnosing food or drug allergies. These are only undertaken when allergy tests do not provide a confirmatory answer with regard to diagnosing an allergy or intolerance.
Severe allergic reactions are extremely rare but should be anticipated. Low risk challenges will be undertaken in the consulting rooms; higher risk challenges will be undertaken in the ward.
Please avoid taking anti-histamines and certain other medications for 48-72 hours before the test.
Thermage® CPT Skin Tightening

Common Scalp Problems
When the scalp is not healthy, this can cause discomfort in the form of itchiness, flakiness, oiliness or painful bumps. Hair loss can also occur.
Dandruff
This common scalp condition can affect anyone from newborns (cradle cap) to the elderly. It often manifests as an itchy and flaky scalp. The eyebrows, ears and mid –face may appear red, itchy and flaky too. The overgrowth of yeast and increased oil production plays a role in this condition. Seborrheic dermatitis is a more severe variant of this condition. Treatment options include medicated shampoos and topical applications.

Scalp Psoriasis
This is a chronic immune condition of the scalp. Psoriasis can run in the family. It appears as deep pink flaky well demarcated patches on the scalp, often involving the hairline and ears. It is important to examine the rest of the body as psoriasis commonly also affects the elbows, knees, nails and trunk.

Scalp folliculitis
Increased oil production ( sebum) plays a central role in this condition. It manifests as painful red and sometimes itchy bumps of the scalp that look like ‘pimples’.
Tinea capitis
This is a true fungal infection of the scalp and is infectious. Most commonly seen in children as flaky red patches on the skin with or without hair loss. It is important to treat and examine household and close contacts of the affected person too with anti-fungal shampoos, topicals and tablets.
Laser Facial / Laser Skin Toning

Laser facial, also known as laser skin toning or laser rejuvenation, is done with “minimally-ablative” lasers. These work on the deep layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production and tighten skin. Pores, fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation will be targeted. There is minimal downtime, usually just mild redness which subsides after a couple of hours.
Best results are attained when a series of treatments are done 1-2 weeks apart. Any improvement attained is permanent as long as one maintains the condition with proper skin care.
No preparation is required before the treatment, although if required a numbing cream will be applied on the face for 10-15 minutes prior to the laser procedure. The whole treatment usually takes another 10-15 minutes.
